inİstanbul’a dünyanın 6. büyük tüneli yapılıyor.

ATATURK, COMMUNISM, KEMAL ATATURK, LENİN, MUSSOLINI, NAZISMM, TURKEY, TURKISH WORLD, İSTANBUL
M. Kemal Ataturk: “Communism is the greatest foe of the Turkish world. It must be crushed wherever it is seen.” (Faruk Şükrü Yersel, Eskişehir Newspaper, 1926)
In order to be able to properly bear Ataturk’s legacy, the form that “true Kemalism” should take must be properly understood. Every Turk has a duty and a responsibility to grasp this important truth. Above all, it should be well understood that Ataturk, a convinced Turkish nationalist and a sincere Muslim, opposed nonsense such as communism and materialism at every stage of the national struggle.
Ataturk warned the nation against ideologies that would damage peace and order, and bring disaster to the country, and many times he expressed the importance of striving against and keeping one’s distance from them. “In raising our children and young people, the struggle against all elements that conflict with the truth and union must be encouraged,” he said. He also noted the need for raising the consciousness of the young for this struggle.
In Ataturk’s view, communism and fascism are ideologies that are highly dangerous to the nation and that fall within this description. Ataturk clearly and absolutely opposed Darwinism and communism, – based on dialectical materialism – and stressed that this dangerous ideology should be crushed wherever it is seen. The Great Leader well understood the true nature of both ideologies and strove to make our people aware of this, too. The statements below are important in terms of revealing his broad view:
“The nations of the world have from time to time been shamelessly shared out by imperialist countries, and we must not be so heedless as to forget that undeveloped countries have been eliminated from history in the course of that division. The present state of the world is not at all bright. Every country is striving to have its young people adopt a different ideology.
Italy has buckled down to the ideology of fascism. Mussolini, the dictator of that country, boasts that his country lives on the bayonets of 8 million young people…
The Nazism that Hitler is creating and developing in Germany is another very dangerous ideology. Hitler is a racist. Note that I am saying he is a racist, not a nationalist. He is a lunatic who regards the German race as the most superior race. He has lined German youth up behind him and indoctrinated them with this ideal…
The game being played in Moscow is something else. Stalin is trying to indoctrinate not just his own young people, but the young people of the world, with the ideology of communism. It is clear how easily communist propaganda has mustered support in countries in which many poor and ignorant people live…” (A Lifetime in Ataturk’s Footsteps, p.155)
These ideologies left tens of millions dead and untold thousands of suffering people behind them and brought tragedy and destruction to all the countries they entered. These are ideologies that gnaw away and exploit countries from the inside, and for true patriots to strive against them on the intellectual level is an important legacy from Ataturk.
Ataturk wisely foresaw that communism would cause an uprising in the East and insisted on the need for precautionary measures to be taken.
In an address in 1932, Ataturk said that he regarded communism as a major threat and danger:
“Today a new power has appeared in eastern Europe that threatens all civilizations and even all mankind. This terrifying force, which is mobilizing all its material and psychological means for the sake of a world revolution, and which is still unknown to Europeans and Americans, is employing new political methods and knows how to take the most perfect advantage of even the most minor errors of its rivals. The main victor of a war that would break out in Europe will be neither Great Britain, nor France nor Germany. It will be Bolshevism (communism). We Turks, Russia’s close neighbor and a nation that has fought against them many times, are closely monitoring events there and we see the danger in all clarity. The Bolsheviks, who so perfectly exploit the mental structures of the awakening Eastern nations, who stoke their national pride and know how to incite hatred, have become the major force that threatens not only Europe but also Asia.” (Ataturk’s Speeches and Addresses, Vol. 3, p. 94-95)
Ataturk expressed his concerns over the threat of communism in a letter he wrote to Ali Fuat Cebesoy: “This movement (communism) is entering our country with various aims from inside and outside, and if intelligent precautionary measures are not taken, it seems inevitable that situations damaging to the peace and unity the nation so needs, will inevitably ensue…” (31 October 1920, SD, IV, s. 360-361)
Ataturk, a True Believer
The way that some sinister forces describe Ataturk as opposed to religion is a lie and a slander intended to make their own ideologies adopted. It is clear, from Ataturk’s own words and from the testimony of people who were closely acquainted with him, that Ataturk was a leader who sincerely believed in Islam. The following words alone are enough to reveal Ataturk’s point of view.
“The Turkish nation must be more devout. I wish to say they must be devout in all simplicity. I believe in my religion in the same way I believe in the actual truth. It [my religion] does not include anything that would violate consciousness and impede progress.”
“Our nation has two powerful virtues; religion and language. No force has ever been, and will never be able to, remove these virtues from the heart and conscience of the nation.”
“They (Turks) have been stubborn in not adopting the lofty and valuable truths of the true Islam. This represents one of the main reasons of our regression.”
“He (The Prophet Muhammed (saas)) is the first and greatest servant of Allah. Millions of people are walking in his footsteps today. My name and yours will disappear, but his name will remain until the very end, his name is immortal.”
“All the Muslims of the world must follow the path shown by the Hazrat Muhammad (saas), the final prophet of Allah, and must fully obey his commands. All Muslims must take Muhammad as a role model and act like him; they must obey the commands of Islam to the letter. Because only in that way can they be delivered and make progress.”
“Love felt for Hazrat Muhammad (saas) can only be manifested by maintaining the ideas and principles he put forth.”
“Allah is One, His glory is great. May the peace and love of Allah be upon you. Our Master, the Prophet (pbuh), was chosen as an envoy to tell others of the truths of the faith. The basis of this, as we all know, is the explicit verses of the Holy Qur’an. Our faith is the final faith that gives people the soul of beauty. It is the most perfect faith because our faith is completely compatible with reason, logic and the truth.”
“Irreligious nations cannot survive.”

inThe word Islam conjures up a disturbing picture in the minds of some people outside the Muslim world. It is a fact that many in the West imagine Islam to be a faith far removed from modern life, closed to science and that attaches no value to a good quality of life. The first reason for this erroneous belief is that various people who claim to be Muslims in fact have views and lifestyles that fly in the face of it. However, someone looking in from the outside cannot recognize that and will be unable to evaluate matters accurately. Another important reason is associated with the first: Most people are unacquainted with the truths of Islam and the correct interpretation of the Quran. In point of fact, these people who make incorrect evaluations are not only from outside the Islamic world; many people within the Islamic world as well are unable to properly understand the Quran. The reason for the appearance of mistaken and radical views is that the Quran is not correctly understood.
The only point of reference to truly learn about Islam is the Quran but we see that some people do not interpret the Quran correctly and produce their own perverse and foolish deductions from it in order to support their own misguided and superstitious beliefs. One of the subjects most easily capable of being misinterpreted in this way is science and scientific activity.
Science is an important reality that enables us to know the universe we inhabit, the Earth and our own bodies and to be able to appreciate all the beauties around us. Scientific advances have enlightened human life and opened the door to a healthier way of living. For example, by means of medical advances the average human life span today is much greater than it was a century ago. Even in the 1950s, average worldwide life expectancy was 47, whereas according to U.N. figures it had risen to 68 by 2010. Similarly, advances in other branches of science have made our lives easier and more comfortable.
Today, for instance, the benefits of the Internet are obvious. By means of the Internet we can learn at once what is happening in different parts of the world. Communications among people have grown and become far easier. New concepts such as e-commerce have bestowed a new dimension to our understanding of economics. Information about a subject one wants to investigate can now be accessed immediately. The Internet is just one of the benefits that science has bestowed on mankind over the last century and those nations making greater uses of the benefits of science now live at a much more advanced level. Had science not progressed as much as it has, we would very likely still be living dark and backward lives devoid of many facilities.
For a sincere Muslim, science is a blessing that God has bestowed on mankind. Islam advocates a rational approach. In many verses of the Quran, God advises people to use their intelligence. He emphasizes the need for us to think rationally and scientifically, speaking of, “…those deeply rooted in knowledge…” and “…only people of intelligence pay heed.” (3:7). Another verse advises people to think about the formation of the universe: “…reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth …” (3:191)
Use is still being made today of the work of various Muslim scientists in the past who understood that Islam encourages scientific investigation. People such as Avicenna, Farabi and Battani were among the leading scientists of the Middle Ages. Avicenna’s book “The Canon of Medicine” (al-Qānūn fī al-Tibb) was used as a text book in the universities of Montpellier and Louvain until 1650. Battani’s “Zij” was regarded as a most important astronomical text, and his work inspired that of Copernicus. A crater on the moon was even named after him as a mark of respect: “Albategnius.” Al-Khwarizmi’s work “Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing” is regarded as the first work in which the first systematic solution of linear and quadratic equations are presented. The very term “algebra” comes from “al-jabr,” one of the methods for solving quadratic equations in al-Khwarizmi’s book. Many other examples of contributions to scientific progress by Muslim scientists could be given.
Today, too, there are a great many scientists, academics and intellectuals who have emerged from the Islamic world and serve all mankind. The spread of scientific thinking and concentration on rationality will further increase the numbers of such people and the contributions they make. That is why it needs to be better understood that the Quran encourages rational thinking and scientific research and activity. In this way, more enlightened people will appear from within the Islamic world and bearing in mind that societies are today in ever greater interaction with one another, such progress will clearly be of great benefit to both the Islamic world and to the world as a whole.

inThe Islamic world is wide-spread not only in its geography, but in its various traditions. However, when we look at the world of Islam today, a general coarsening has taken place. At one time, Muslims were regarded as people of good character; in the Middle Ages, Saladin was regarded by the Crusaders, including Richard the Lionhearted, as a wise and noble figure worthy of respect. Islam led the world in the sciences, the arts and literature. Now when we gaze upon the Islamic world, we see a degraded culture where shabby-looking men are held up as saints, where beautiful women are commanded by bigots to conceal their beauty, and where unkempt women are held up as paragons of virtue by the very nature of their appearance, as though having bad skin and uncombed hair somehow makes you pious.
It goes without saying that many, especially in the West, look at bedraggled men with long and disheveled beards, wearing rags and semi-literate, as examples of Islam. This occurs because the media has made them so, and these particular men love nothing more than to claim to speak for the whole of the Islamic world. But it is not only in the West that this has happened; in the Islamic world, far too many Muslims see these same men and think to themselves, “Why, look! He wears filthy rags, and has a long and ungroomed beard. Surely this is a holy man!” Or they see a woman in stylish clothes, wearing makeup or having her hair uncovered, and the immediate reaction of far too many is, “Why, this woman is a prostitute, a Jezebel!” This kind of foolish thinking is unfortunately commonplace in the Islamic world.
So how has it come to this? How is it that music, art and beauty is condemned, when music, art and beauty are gifts from God? Why are these gifts, which uplift and elevate the mind and soul, looked upon as curses from the devil himself?
Perhaps it is because we have allowed petty and small-minded provincials with peculiar ideas to rule the discussion for too long. We have allowed these people to enjoy a cultural dictatorship, a “tyranny of moral busybodies,” as the Christian writer C.S. Lewis so eloquently said. We have allowed them to become cultural arbiters. And the results? A world without joy or beauty. A world where those men and women who wish to share the talents given to them by God are told their gifts are sins. What madness is this? Truly, a world in which there is no appreciation of beauty and aesthetics is little more than a manifestation of Hell itself.
There is nothing from the Quran that prohibits music or the arts. It is mistaken to say, “The Quran prohibits music!” This is bid’ah, or heresy, and those who introduce such things are committing a sin. As it says in the Quran, “Say, ‘Do you see that which God hath provided for you — you make some of it unlawful (haram) and some of it lawful?'” “Say, ‘Did God allow you to do this, or do you tell lies about God?'” (10: 59).
Our Prophet was a man of fine appearance and attribute, and he had an aesthetic appreciation for beauty. He used to grow roses around his house, and in a desert environment growing almost anything is a difficult task. At that time there existed a fragrant oil and our Prophet used to use olive oil as well as that oil mixed with a beautiful smelling rose extract; he used to wear this in his hair as a brilliantine, and it made him appear more youthful. It is said his clothes, his frock and shirt were white and always kept clean and in good repair. His teeth (owing to the use of a miswak, a natural toothbrush) were white and clean. All of these descriptions of his appearance come from the hadiths. All these descriptions are notably different from what we so often see, and all are notably different from what we see in Muslim extremists as well.
So to my fellow Muslims, please do not allow yourselves to fall into the trap of thinking that by looking shabby and scowling, that this makes you a more devout Muslim. Do not fall prey to the notion that forbidding music or art or beauty is somehow the commandment of God. Do not think for one moment that by treating your wife as an object of scorn or contempt, or as your occasional beast of burden when you go to the shops, that you are living the truth of Islam. You are not. You are behaving in an ugly and boorish manner, and this behavior is fodder for those who seek to portray Muslims as savages. And above all, do not fall into that trap of utopian nonsense which says that if the Muslims were simply to go back to the life of the seventh century A.D., then all would be well in the world, and we would all live in perfect contentment forevermore. This rejection of the modern world is not only profoundly silly and highly reactionary, it is dangerous.
And for the Western reader, I ask you not to fall into the trap of thinking that unkempt, unclean and loutish individuals who spout distorted religious speculations mixed with their own superstitions and cultural peculiarities as being wholly representative of Islam. They are not; overall, they are a minority. They get the attention they do simply because they manage to talk over everyone else. And do not fall into the trap of the anti-Muslim bigots; while they like to claim they are only opposed to “extremists” and “radicals,” they portray this vocal and extremist minority as representative of the entirety of Islam, when in fact the opposite is true. Extremists speak only for themselves; they are a majority only in their fevered delusions.
